Red Rock Canyon - Maternity Shoot
In 2018, while out in Vegas to teach a Leica workshop for WPPI, I met Ashleigh for the first time. One of my favorite things to do anytime I’m in Vegas is to shoot out in Red Rock Canyon. On my last day before flying home, I found Ashleigh’s modeling profile online and reached out to see if she might be interested in taking a ride out to Red Rock with me and a few buddies for a shoot. Thankfully, for us, she agreed and it turned out to be a great day of shooting.
A few weeks prior to WPPI of this year, 2022, Ashleigh reached out to me to see if I would be interested in doing a maternity shoot for her in the same spot that we had shot at back in 2018. I had no intentions on heading out to WPPI because I would be in Savannah just a week prior for our Twisted Oaks workshop. Apparently, all I needed was a good excuse to fly out since that’s exactly what I did.
Round trip flights were only $160 and I was able to crash with my good friend Jason Vinson for a night. Below are a couple of shots from our shoot back in 2018, here is the blog post - 2018 WPPI SHOOT.
We had perfect weather without a cloud in the sky and Ashleigh looked stunning sporting her 8-month old baby bump. A big thank you to John Kreidler at Leica Camera USA for loaning me an S3 with a Summicron 100mm f2 which is what I used for most of the shoot and almost all of the images that you see below.
